Minorca, declared a Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO because of its environmental diversity and landscapes, offers a wide range of alternatives to the visitor.
There is a wide offer of sporting activities, such us windsurfing, scuba diving, horse-riding, cycling, tennis, golf and even cricket.
The cultural opportunities are numerous and varied. Special attention should be paid to the prehistoric settlements and monuments, spread out throughout the insular territory.
There are numerous museums: Museu de la Natura in Ferreries, Museo Municipal des Basti� de Sa Font in Ciutadella, Museo de Menorca and Museo Hern�ndez-Sanz in Ma�, Museo Militar and Fort Marlborough in Es Castell, among others.
The main cultural events of the year are the international opera week in Ma�, the summer music festival and the Capella Dav�dica concerts in Ciutadella, as well as the international organ festivals in Santa Maria, Ma�, and in the cathedral in Ciutadella. Jazz concerts are also enjoying a boom and nowadays, they are part of the musical offerings of the island.
